Privacy Policy

Batoucada (“we”, “us”, or “our”) built Kino, an Android controller for Parrot Airborne MiniDrones. This page explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

Information we collect

None. Kino does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal data. It has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK, no cookies and no user accounts. We have no servers and receive nothing from your device.

No internet access

Kino does not declare Android’s INTERNET permission. The app is technically incapable of sending anything off your device, over any network, to us or to anyone else.

Bluetooth

Kino uses Bluetooth Low Energy for one purpose only: to find your drone and to fly it. It requests two permissions on Android 12 and above:

• Nearby devices (BLUETOOTH_SCAN) — to list drones in range. It is declared with the neverForLocation flag, which tells Android that scan results are not used to derive location.
• Nearby devices (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT) — to open a connection to the drone you pick and send flight commands to it.

Scan results are matched against Parrot advertising names, held in memory while the app is running, and discarded when it closes. They are never recorded or transmitted.

Location permission on older Android versions

On Android 11 and below, the operating system refuses to perform any Bluetooth LE scan unless the app also holds a location permission. This is a platform requirement, not a choice on our part. Kino therefore declares ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION capped at maxSdkVersion="30", so it is not even requested on Android 12 or later. Kino never reads your location, and never derives it from scan results.

Data stored on your device

Kino has no database and no saved files. Piloting preferences such as sensitivity, expo and inverted pitch live only in memory for the duration of a session. Nothing persists after the app is closed, so there is nothing to export or delete beyond uninstalling the app.

Third-party services

Kino integrates no third-party services or SDKs that collect user data. It communicates only with the drone you connect it to.

Children’s privacy

Kino is a tool for operating a real flying device and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — because we collect nothing at all.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
