Every Sony model exposes a different set of features, so Ondara asks each device what it supports and shows only that.
A fast pass listens for the devices that announce themselves, then a bounded, cancellable check of the addresses on your own subnet catches the ones that do not. Whatever it finds is remembered, so the next launch opens straight onto your speakers.
Ondara reads each device’s own description of itself before drawing anything. A control the speaker in front of you cannot obey is not shown at all — not greyed out, not present.
Minimum, maximum and step come from the device itself rather than a guessed 0–50, so the slider means what it says. Mute and power on / back to standby sit alongside it.
Sound field, DSEE HX and ClearAudio+ where the device offers them, listed in the device’s own words, plus the 5-band equaliser when it is on its custom sound field.
Portable speakers that report a level get one. Devices that do not get no battery element at all — and a level Ondara cannot read is shown as unknown, never as a guessed number.
If your devices are in a Google Cast group, Ondara shows the group, its members and which device is currently leading it. Creating and editing groups stays in Google Home — Ondara only reads.

the multicast lock discovery needs. No location permission of any kindThe interface these devices expose is undocumented; Ondara was built by observing the devices themselves. So it never assumes: every control is derived from what that particular device declares about itself, and a device that declares nothing is asked for nothing. On a model we have not seen, a command can still be refused — Ondara reports that rather than pretending it worked.
These devices also have no authentication of any kind. Any app or computer on the same network can already change their volume or switch them off; that is a property of the hardware, not something Ondara introduces or can fix. Ondara is provided as is, without warranty.
